It was an easy summer eve at Central kitchen & EuroBar. Thank you Monty & Veronica for spoiling us (as usual) with big glasses of wine on special for $5 and with loads of delicious appies; my favorite was the refreshing watermelon & arugula brushechetta.

Minglers met for some well-deserved after work cocktails on Friday, May 23rd at the super cool Canvas Lounge. It's mod, it's marvellous, it's Marmalade!
A great selection of appetizers were served buffet style earlier and throughout the evening Marmalade offered great prices on wine that was appreciated by all. The restaurant is so beautiful, with big picturesque windows and an inviting patio though it was bitterly cold outside for the first day of Spring. We'll just have to visit again in warmer times.

Over 90 Minglers mingled it up for our 4th Year Anniversary Party at the beautiful Bardot Lounge, where we were spoiled with big pours of delicious wine and snaked on baked brie pastry. Wednesday, 09.19.007 WestJet Lounge
The WestJet Lounge was a 4 day lounge created as a 'green room' in the Georgian Court Hotel for the Global ComedyFest. Most of the Festival's comedians were staying in the hotel and so you never knew who would pop in over the 4 days. Vancouver Minglers were very pleased to launch the opening night of this exclusive lounge! The WestJet Crew were there with their faux runway, check-in booth and some great scratch & win prizes; everyone won at least $20 off a flight, but we also had winners of up to $100 off a flight and two lucky grand prize winners of a  FREE WESTJET FLIGHT. Other door prizes were had too; Karen won tickets to "Baked Sale" at The Yale, Karl & Lisa both won tickets to Sonny Rhodes at The Yale Sept. 28 & 29. Everyone received an enticing coupon from Cobre Restaurant, the new Latino hot spot in Gastown. But it wasn't all fun & games, on the serious side we raised over $200 in "Red Nose" money for the Children's Hospital! Good work everyone! It's been a funny summer weather wise, but last night we finally got it... hot sunshine and cold drinks served at the same time! It's true what they say, friendly people with good attitudes make the event. Thank you for making last nights event! Last night was a wonderful time! We enjoyed the sweet jazzy sounds of local favorites, Lesismore, while we nibbled on healthy summer fare and sipped sparkling cosmo cocktails. Life is good at Bardot! Door Prizes were plentiful... George & Iram both won group sets of tickets to Marika's Huge Annual Volleyball BBQ Dance Party, Laura won tickets to the LA Guitar Quartet coming to the Chan Centre in August as part of Festival Vancouver's excellent line up. David O'Brien won tickets to David Gogo who is performing at Vancouver's home of the blues, The Yale. This will be an excellent show too! SURPRISES... included $5 discount vouchers to everyone in attendance, to any Festival Vancouver show of your choice courtesy of Vancouver Minglers. AND a pair of tickets to..."Don't Worry Be Happy", Bobby McFerrin, who will be opening Festival Vancouver with a special early concert at the Orpheum on July 27th. I'm happy to say these special tickets were was won by a very deserving fan, Carl, who has all Bobby's albums (KEWL!). The weather on Wednesday evening was beautiful and must have encouraged Minglers to come out and play, because we had one of our best Minglers events ever!
Thank you NU Restaurant & Lounge for the scrumptious selection of perfectly prepared canapes, they were wonderful. As was savouring the sun set from NU's perfectly situated patio. What a dynomite way to set the tone to a great evening and hopefully what will be a terrific summer!

Great location! ...Bardot's is in Yaletown, across from the seawall & marina which offers picturesque beauty and the wanderlust activity of the busy Vancouver seawall. We got spoiled! Bardot's supplied a large healthy summer spead that included fresh fruit and vegetables, with an assortment of delicious cheeses and breads. It went perfectly with the wine and sangria specials. Pete won a pair of tickets to Jerry Doucette at The Yale. Shirley & John both won tickets to Theatre Under the Stars. What a great and diverse turn out we had, especially for a Wednesday night. It was easy to get over hump day thanks to the delious complimentary "O Bites" and enthusiastic mingling. Vancouver AM Tourism went PM as Minglers welcomed them to the event. Rochelle S. won the door prize of two tickets to the Billy Dixon Soul Train Express Annual Boat Cruise - lucky girl! Warren Frey from the Metro covered our event for one of his last assignments in the "Social Eyes" column. I've been fired from taking photos, and rightly so, I was so bad at it. Wow, the next day my feet were so sore from dancing!
Mojo Zydeco & Gary Comeau had the joint rocking' It was great! Alexis won a prize pack from the Yale for best 'Mardi Gras Spririt', and Ben won for Best Mask, and Diane won because, well...she flashed her boobs. I'm already looking forward to next year.

 Thursday, 02/15/07 Ceilis Irish Pub & Restaurant (Pronounced kay-lees)
Formerly SkyBar, this venue has been completely renovated and transformed into an authentic and stylish Irish Pub. Occupying three full floors, including Vancouver largest rooftop patio, featuring a retractable roof, fireplaces and heat lamps for enjoyment all year round. We hepled Christen Ceilis by  lifting a pint or two and having a ball! DOOR PRIZES: Tickets to Maria Muldaur at the Yale were won by Charlene. Cho won two all day access passes to MASSIVE Technolgy Show. A big congratulations goes out to Ron, the proud new father of a healthy baby boy! Minglers regular Mariane made it back from her trip to Brazil (barely). And asif came back from his first pilgimage to Mecca. I asked him how it was and he said, "there was a lot of people." Thursday, 01/25/07 Diavolo Restaurant & Lounge
What better way to start the New Year and shake off the winter dooldrums, than to sample perfect martinis & enjoy delicious appetizers while meeting new and interesting people? And that's exactly what we did! A little over 70 people attended, this included our favorite Metro reporter, Warren Frey and the bright lights from our friends at CBC TV ! Chef Greg Turgeon generously treated us to delicious garlic prawns and scrumptious bruchetta. Those that had dinner raved about the food, and everybody loved the luxury & eclectic artwork at Diavolos. Elinor W. & Elliot B. both won a pair of tickets to see Larry McCrae at The Yale (Feb. 7th), and Katherine P. won a pair of tickets to see Billy Dixons Soul Train Express Valentine's Dance.  I was so busy juggling, the tv crew , the guests, the coats, the jokes and the wine that I completely forgot to take photos.Doh! Thursday, 12/14/06 - Vancouver Minglers Annual Christmas Party! ~ with all the trimmings~

Despite the especially wicked weather 50 fabulous Minglers shared  an intimate & beautiful old-fashioned style Christmas Party. The food was scrumptious, including traditional Christmas pudding, mulled wine and cranberry sparklers. Minglers enjoyed, and some even busted a move to live band, QUESO BLANCO, best described as, "Tom Waits doing Latin!" In the spirit of Christmas everyone went home with a prize! 
 2 pairs of tickets to the Vancouver Symphony's opening night of  "Russia Fest!", went to lucky winners; Monica and Stuart.  2 tickets to Ballet BC "Carmen", this Spring were won by Susan Z.! Nikki won a one year subscription to BC Business Magazine as well as two books by BC Business Magazine publisher, and reknowned public speaker Peter Legge.  Liz won a custom taiilored shirt from Samson Tailors (value of $70). She's going to love this shirt! I know from first hand experience that Samson does excellent work. It's all in the fit, you know? 2 tickets to Denzel Sinclaire: A Tribute to Nat King Cole with the Bill Coon Orchestra at The Centre for Performing Arts on Valentine's Day went to Jack K.  Alexis & Clayten won all day access passes to the MASSIVE Technology Show March 28th, 2007. 3 Gift Sets  from the Yale - This toe tapping gift set included a Yale CD of local talent having performed at the Yale along with a special VIP Pass for two. Gift sets were won by, Ewa, Sacha, & Susan. Loads of Gift Certificates to Central Bistro & Lounge (From $25 - $40). Central, our fabulous hosts for the evening are often referred to by Minglers as their favorite place for a Minglers event. Friday, 11/10/06 Infinity Dining Experience
Despite the terrible weather outside many Minglers came and enjoyed Infinity's warmth & delicious food, which made for a really lovely evening. Owner/Chef, Alex Rotherham spoiled us with tasty 2 for 1 appetizers while R&B Brewing's hand crafted ales were on special. Every guest received a special Infinity Dining gift certificate to return and enjoy ANY menu item at 2 for 1! Thank you Alex & Lisa! The vibe was electric & the conversation interesting. Warren Frey from Metro News came & took some photos before running off to his next assignment, you know he only goes to Vancouver's hottest parties! :~) . Some Minglers had dinner while enjoying the buzz around them, a couple men played backgammon, a mother & daughter had some laughs, business connections were made, and a large handful of  Minglers carried on to paint the town red! It's the ability to make Minglers what you want, that appeals most. This was Vancouver Minglers 3 Year Anninversay Party and the launch of our super sexy (even if I do say so myself :~) Minglers Membership Cards! We enjoyed the entertainment provided by a live jazz band featuring singer, Amanda Wood and of course the famous Marmalade Stix which were offered at a 2 for 1 price.  New Minglers & Classic Minglers were in fine form, it seemed as though everyone was exceptionally chatty & excited and it made for a really great event! Lisa M. won the door prize of a free Shiatsu Massage from the Shiatsu Massage Company.

Friday, 09/15/06 Central Bistro & Lounge
Central Bistro was bursting at the seams! 120 people! It was a GREAT time. Chef Harry surprised and treated Minglers to a plentiful assortment of delicious appetizers. The scallops were my personal favorites, thanks Harry you're the best! The staff set-up a seconday wine bar making service fast & friendly, (as usual). Due to traffic the band was held up a bit, but the soothing jazzy sounds were well worth the wait, as we stayed & enjoyed into the night.

What a great turn out! We were filled to capacity and beyond as Minglers enjoyed ZiN Restaurant & Lounge inside and out ~ the lounge was cool & the patio was hot! The delicious appetizers at only $4 were a steal of a deal. All in all it was a beautiful evening with many new associations formed. LOADS of DOOR PRIZES: Brock M. won a men’s gift basket from Ooh-la-la, while Bev “strut your stuff” L. took home the female equivalent. Frances M. and Joni G. both won tickets to the fabulous Billy Dixon’s Soul Train Express! Friday, 06/30/06 Ambrozia Restaurant & Lounge
Over 100 happy people turned out for this great start to the first long weekend of summer. Ambrozia circulated some complimentary appetizers while Minglers...well, mingled. Door Prizes included two sets of two tickets to Billy Dixon's Boat Cruise, won by Simon B. and Alex. Tania M. won a $50 gift certificate to Ambrozia. Lots of people stayed late to enjoy dinner and the Persian sounds of the Tandis Band. Some of us brave, or maybe just slightly intoxicated ones, tried their hand at bellydancing. All in all it was an evening filled with laughs. Cheers everyone!

That was fun! At first I was a bit concerned as the weather was looking iffy and knowing a large crowd was expected we definitely needed the outside patio. But fortunately the sun came out right on que, it was a beautiful Vancouver evening and we were filled to capacity inside and out . Everybody was enjoying themselves as we celebrated Marmalade's 1 Year Anniversary. Congratulations! Kir Royale was the special of the night and I heard the Marmalade Stix, which were also on special, were delicious! Minglers were so impressed with our last visit to Central Bistro that we received numerous requests to return. But still, even I was surprised by the huge turn out of people. Wow! We had over 100 people throughout the evening. Thank you Chef Harry for hosting us, you're the best! Minglers enjoyed Central's fun flirtatious vibe and of course the fantastic food. Over the course of the evening about 70 people came and went and enjoyed the delicious complimentary appetizers that were an unexpected surprise from Chef Stefan of Ambrozia Restaurant. We had a great time meeting many new interesting people. A handful of people danced to the great live music (also an unexpected extra treat) and some took Salsa lessons being offered by Cuban dance intructor, Karlos. Dina won a gift certificate from The Shiatsu Massage Company for a workplace chair massage for her & three collegues! And Francis won a gift certificate to Ambrozia Restaurant.

Wednesday, 12/14/05 Vancouver Minglers Christmas Party at Central Bistro & Lounge
If good people and good food are the key ingredients to making a great party, we cooked! What a wonderful, lovely night this was! Chef Harry totally out did himself as preprared delicious morsel after morsel of the tastiest tapas ever. Minglers raved about the food!  "That's the best food I've ever had at any party, anywhere!" Dave M. exclaimed. We mingled, danced and left full and happy. Many took home gifts coming from the loads of door prizes; Central Bistro Gift Certificates, Chocolate Almond Toffee from Sweet Elegance, T-Shirts, CD organizers, key chains from Bacardi, Spa certificate from Donalilly, Massage Certificate from Shiatsu Massage Co.) and complimentary Christmas wreaths from Vancouver Minglers. Thursday, 11/24/05 Campoverde Social Club
Chef Fernando kept us very happy with an assortment of delicious and plentiful hors d'ouevres that were passed through out the night. The friendly bartender, Mack, what a great name for a bartender, made an assortment of martini drink specials in red, white and blue colours in honour of American Thanksgiving. I noticed some great connections being made and heard many favourable comments about both the club's decor and the social club concept that Kimberely and Rachel have put together at Campoverde. Their new event planner, Micheal was very charming and helpful, I expect the New Years Eve party he's planning will be the envy of the town!

Friday, 09/30/05 Marmalade Kitchen & Bar
What a lovely place this is! We met at 5:30 PM and enjoyed the most scrumptious interesting cocktails. This kitchen/bar style restaurant pays as close attention to the drink mixology as the food, both of which offer tremendous variety and freshness. No complaints as everyone enjoyed themselves at this beautiful seaside venue. Located at #3, 1010 Beach Ave. (right at the bottom of Burrard St.).

Thursday, 18/08/05 Azure
Located at the Plaza of Nations, formerly the Unicorn, Mavericks and the Pier. The new owners of Azure spared no expense in their huge makeover of the restaurant, lounge & patio. Both food & management change often as the restaurant tries to find it's stride. Very busy venue before games and concerts.

Friday, The last three Friday's for the last three months (May, June and July) we've enjoyed the hospitality of SkyBar both with the Rooftop Patio and the VIP Room. Thanks SkyBar for being so good to us!
Entry fee was $10 and include the first drink on the house. Attendance was 60 - 70 people per event and the atmoshphere was very chatty. Door prizes included Limo packages from SkyBar, Spa gift certificate from Donnalily, Party Tickets from Marika Productions, Shiatsu Massage Certificates, free tans from Body Rays, theatre tickets from Aumentare Productions.

• Friday, 04/08/05 SkyBar's Rooftop Patio
  Entry was $10 and included the first drink on the house compliments of SkyBar. A total attendance of 89 was reached and by all accounts people seemed to have a good time. Lots of new commers came thanks to our listing in The Georgia Straight 'Time Out' guide. We look forward to hosting more events at SkyBar over the summer months since their food is fabulous the staff is great and SkyBar's rooftop boasts the largest outdoor patio Vancouver has! Jimmy G. won the Shiatsu Massage gift certificate. Kelly won tickets to Crazy & A Half Fundraiser Party and Adrianna won a skin care gift package from Usana.
  
  

Wednesday, 03/16/05 Bogart's Chophouse & Bar
What a great time we had, ...80 people came for some easy breezy mingling. Bogart's supplied great martinis at a low $5 price and half price appies that were so good, many stayed for dinner too. PAD's brought some beautiful dogs to the party and facilitaed a 50/50 draw which raised a total $200. Nikki was the lucky 50/50 winner. Noreen won a Shiatsu workplace chair massage for her and a few collegues from The Shiatsu Massage Co. And Delia was the fortunate winner of two tickets to the 2nd Annual Le'Amour Fashion Show in aid of The Dr. Peter Centre. Congratulations everyone!

Thursday, 02/02/05 "Get Your Motor Running" @ Aqua1066 Restaurant & Lounge

This Business Social was designed to get people revved up for the New Year!

We all enjoyed complimentary, ever-so-tasty hors d'oeuvres from Aqua1066 and indulged in smooth vodka samplings from Ketel One Vodka as well as robustly delicious wine  tastings from Calona Vineyards.

All the while DJ Ronnie entertained us with car themed songs.

Door Prize winner was Santo S., who received a complimentary workplace chair massage for him and his collegues,from The Shiatsu Massage Co.

Wednesday, 10/11/04 Black & White Party @ Aqua1066 Restaurant & Lounge

Over a hundred Minglers came wearing black & white and enjoyed a particularly friendly evening at Aqua1066 Lounge & Restaurant. The Pacific Assistance Dogs were beautifully behaved and looked so cute in the latest canine fashions provided by Three Dog Bakery. All the while, DJ Rude Ronnie rocked the joint! His choice of hits quickly motivated us to dance and kept us dancing into the midnight hour... and not just on the dance floor, ...there were conga lines and women were shakin' it up on the bar too!
Grey Goose Vodka's  lovely hostess poured samples of the many delicious flavours for us to try and Aqua1066 served soul fusion hors d'oeuvres. We also appreciated the surprise Red Bull samples thanks to Kenny Mac.
Mya, from West Vanity Media, MC'd the announcement of door prizes winners, of which there were many drawn through out the evening, door prizes such as, certificates from Shiatsu Massage Co. and from Aqua1066 to a complimentary tuxedo rental from Samson Tailors, and even free piercings from West Coast Tattoo  and a free Botox treatment from Facial Rejuvenation Clinic!
Thank you Joanne for graciously helping out at the door with only a moments notice and Alexis for bringing the festive Black & White balloon bouquets. Thanks to everyone who came and made this a really fun event and Vancouver Minglers a great association to be a part of! Ingrid

Thursday, 23/09/04 Bogart's Chophouse & Bar
This was our Fall Minglers "Wack to Bork" meeting and was very successful!. The room was filled with fun energy, constantly flowing with a minimum of 70+ people coming and going all night long. As usual, the social went past the alotted time and many connections were made. It was great to see lots of new members attend, much in part to our advertisements in The Georgia Straight and Business In Vancouver. The food was outstanding! Bogart's enjoyed us too and invites Vancouver Minglers Members to a special; A COMPLIMENTARY ENTREE with the purchace of another entree (max. $18.00) valid from Oct. 6th - Nov. 6th 2004, simply give your server your business card and tell them you are a Vancouver Mingler to take advantage of this delicious offer!

Thursday, 29/07/04 Aqua1066 Restaurant & Lounge
Despite the great outside patio Aqua1066 offers, Minglers tended to flock inside while enjoying a fantastic assortment of martinis (only $4.99) and delicious appetizers...Jimmy G said it was the best Kalamari he's ever had! All in all it was a great summer social. Many Minglers have reported back to us that they not only enjoyed themselves and the lovely venue, but that many good connections were made also (business and otherwise). I knew it was a hit by the fact that a still rather large group of Minglers were still milling about after 10:pm! 

Wednesday, 31/03/04 Tapinis Tapas & Martini Lounge
Great, happy atmosphere with a surprise Wednesday night turn out of 75 Minglers. Tapinis treated us royally; no entry fee, complimentary bevy and free flowing tapas all night long. Chef, Rob Dew has outdone himself...the duck quesadilla is marvelous, as is the jumbo chilled prawns with sweet chilli sauce. Live performance are held nightly at Tapinis, and we were treated to the lovely jazz sounds of the Nancy Foreman Quartet.

Friday, 13/02/04 SkyBar
A good time was had by all.
The assorted appetizers SkyBar served were well received as Minglers commented on how tasty and plentiful they were. It was great to see everyone really circulating and mingling through the warm VIP Lounge. Those that took advantage of The Shiatsu Massage Company's 'massage bar' had an especially happy, relaxed glow. The "meeting" ran late with many staying to dance into the night...

Friday, 12/12/03 Campoverde
Minglers commented favourably about the wonderful decor and atmosphere that owners, Rachel and Kimberley have created at Campoverde. Many who attended on Friday were curious about  Campoverde's social club concept and used this "meeting" as the perfect opportunity to check it out.
Thank you Minglers, a portion of your admittance fee went to charity, The Union Gospel Mission. And thank you Sears on Robson for supplying the stocking stuffer handouts.

Turned out to be a long and happy meeting as people mingled well past 9:30PM. I guess that's because we were having a really good time! Subeez treated us very well, in fact they surpised us with a gigantic platter of spring rolls and other delicious appetizers, plus the drink specials were unbeatable.

Friday, 10/17/03 Hotel LeSoleil Lounge/ Restaurant, Oritalia.
It was not a weather friendly evening outside, but inside, happy Minglers enjoyed complimentary mini martini's from Grey Goose Vodka, massages from The Shiatsu Massage Co., assorted canapes and the cozy, inviting atmosphere of the beautiful Oritalia Restaurant. The turn out was high, despite the lousy weather, in fact half a dozen Minglers from Seattle made the journey up, and some members suggested a bigger location for our next gathering.
